Organic Farm Advisors

Organic and sustainably grown crops can garner increased demand and higher prices in the marketplace, resulting in increased profitability for farms.  But for farmers who want to begin using organic methods, changing how things are done on a farm is not always easy.  The NOFA/RI organic farm advisor program provides technical guidance to farmers who want to learn how to implement organic methods on their farms.  Experienced organic farmers are paired with new or transitioning farmers to provide assistance in areas such as farm planning, soil building, pest and disease control, and greenhouse growing.  Farmers receiving assistance can be working towards the goal of becoming certified organic, or just want to produce their crops in a more sustainable manner.  We are currently looking for organic farmers who are willing be advisors.  Compensation and milage reimbursement will be provided from a grant awarded to NOFA by the RIDEM.  If you are interested, contact NOFA/RI at nofari@live.com or 401-523-2653.  If you would like to receive assistance from an advisor, you can contact us at nofari@live.com .
