SUMMARY:On Farm Workshop: Building the Right Sized Farm with Little State Flower Co.
DESCRIPTION:Little State Flower Company is a 5 acre specialty-cut flower farm in Tiverton\, Rhode Island. Little State focuses on sustainable\, environmentally-friendly growing practices in an effort to create local\, healthy options for the wedding and event industry in and around Rhode Island. \nAnna Jane Kocon\, first generation farmer and owner of Little State Flower Company\, founded her business on a few acres leased from a friend ten years ago. Since then\, she has been able to scale her profits while keeping her farm a manageable size. About five years into running her business and piecing together a patchwork of leased properties\, she was able to purchase her current home base in Tiverton. Anna Jane transformed the back of her property from a junk yard into a thriving farm that produces cut flowers year round. In this On Farm Workshop\, she will speak about building a farm from scratch and maintaining a sustainable size and profit margin alongside your sanity. Tour will be followed by a wood fired pizza party. Please bring a side dish and/or pizza toppings if you are able! \nVisitors may park in the lot next to the farmstand. The farm tour will involve standing & walking outdoors on uneven terrain. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather. \nPlease register on the event page.
